According to Our World in Data, by the beginning of 2024, the share of solar energy in Ukraine reached over 6% of total electricity production, showing growth compared to less than 4% in 2021.
Although this indicator is still inferior to the level of European leaders – such as:
- Greece – over 20%,
- The Netherlands and Hungary – over 18%,
- Spain – over 17%,
- Germany and Italy – over 13%,
- the Baltic countries – over 12%.
Progress in Ukraine, where over the past two years the growth of the total share in energy has increased by 2%, shows significant potential for further development. Given that these are average European growth rates.
The growth of the share of solar energy is an important step towards Ukraine’s energy independence.
