Europe to support Ukraine through solar energy development

On March 27, the second day of the annual SolarPower Summit 2025 took place in Brussels, bringing together industry leaders, European politicians and representatives of international organizations. The event focused on the role of solar energy in shaping a new energy system for Europe – flexible, secure and affordable.

The event was opened by the European Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Dan Jørgensen, who stressed:

“We are at a critical moment for Europe. We urgently need to reduce energy costs and accelerate decarbonisation. We need more solar energy than ever before. Solar energy is the key to a strong, competitive and carbon-free Europe.”

Europe supports Ukraine’s recovery through solar energy

One of the most important events of the day was the signing of a partnership agreement between SolarPower Europe and Greenpeace Ukraine, which provides for the acceleration of the installation of solar power plants in our country.

The aim of the cooperation is not only the development of “green” energy, but also:

  • creation of new jobs;
  • strengthening Ukraine’s energy independence;
  • reorientation of the economy towards sustainable development

“Solar energy brings hope, opportunity and the promise of a peaceful future. We are pleased to join forces with Greenpeace to accelerate the implementation of solar energy in Ukraine,”— said SolarPower Europe CEO Walburga Hemetsberger.

“Solar energy is a double chance for Ukraine: to overcome the energy crisis and stimulate economic growth”, – added Nina Schenian, Director of Greenpeace Germany.

Solar energy is the future of Ukraine

This initiative confirms the growing role of Ukraine in the European energy system. The integration of modern solar solutions into the recovery process opens up prospects for our country to develop sustainably, reduce dependence on fuel imports and create an energy-independent future.

Ukrainian communities, enterprises and municipalities should already think about how to use the advantages of solar energy in their projects – this is the path to stability, savings and development.
